All are Welcome to Receive the Eucharist (Holy Communion)

In the Episcopal Church, all baptized Christians are invited to receive the Eucharist, regardless of where they were baptized. We believe in the real presence of the risen Christ in the Eucharist, which we consider the central act of worship. It is an "outward and visible sign" of God's grace—a moment to set aside our differences and focus on our shared faith in Jesus Christ. After the Eucharist, we are sent forth to continue serving God and the world.

There are multiple options to receive the Eucharist:

  • At the Altar: You may kneel or stand to receive communion.

  • Receiving the Bread: Cross your hands in a cup to receive the bread and eat it with reverence. Then, hold the bottom of the chalice to receive the wine.

  • Dipping the Wafer: If you prefer not to drink from the chalice, dip the wafer in the wine or hold it against the cup before eating it reverently.

  • Blessing Only: If you choose not to receive communion, you are still welcome to come forward for a blessing. Cross your arms over your chest at the altar.

  • Stay Seated Option: You may also remain seated during communion.
