All Baptized Christians are Welcome to Receive the Eucharist (Holy Communion)

In the Episcopal Church, all baptized Christians are invited to receive the Eucharist, regardless of where they were baptized. We believe in the real presence of the risen Christ in the Eucharist, which we consider the central act of worship. It is an "outward and visible sign" of God's grace—a moment to set aside our differences and focus on our shared faith in Jesus Christ. After the Eucharist, we are sent forth to continue serving God and the world.

There are multiple options to receive the Eucharist:

  • At the Altar: You may kneel or stand to receive communion.

  • Receiving the Bread: Cross your hands in a cup to receive the bread and eat it with reverence. Then, hold the bottom of the chalice to receive the wine.

  • Dipping the Wafer: If you prefer not to drink from the chalice, you may dip the wafer in the wine or hold it against the cup before eating it reverently.

  • Blessing: If you choose not to receive communion, you are still welcome to come forward for a blessing. Simply cross your arms over your chest at the altar.

  • Seating Option: You may also choose to remain seated during communion.
